November 2, 2011 Iceland Airwaves music festival in Reykjavik Iceland. Well, what can I say. Iceland is an incredible place. If you ever get the chance, GO! I was there for nine days total. I mixed 15 bands live on the air, and recorded another 10 or so in living rooms and practice spaces. Our broadcast went out live from KEX hostel in Reykjavik. That’s right, KEXP at KEX. Crazy. It was the perfect laid back environment for us to do our remote and the bands (mostly Icelandic) brought it strong. Sets by Mugison, For A Minor Reflection and Of Monsters and Men rocked the house. Check out the KEXP youtube page for videos of the performances. Next it was off to NYC for the CMJ festival. We were live once again from the lobby of the Ace Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. 12 bands played live on the air over three days. Seattle band The Lonely Forest were one of the standouts for me.
